Government Issues Notice to Twitter for Information About Hack

Following the recent hack of some of the world’s largest Twitter accounts, the Indian government has issued a notice to the company. According to reports, the government has been saying to disclose full details of the hack. In addition, Twitter has been asked to inform the government about the number of Indian users affected by the said hack.

According to a source close to the information, who reached out to PTI, the government is also seeking some more information. Most notably, one wants to know how many Indian users visited links to scam websites. Also, it wants to know if the company has reported the affected users to have their accounts compromised.

In addition, the government is asking about the vulnerability exploited by hackers by Twitter, as well as remedial steps taken by the company.

If you are unaware, a few days ago some high profile Twitter accounts were hacked. Hack affected verified profiles including Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and others. The hackers used verified accounts to tweet links to malicious websites as part of the bitcoin scam. Twitter removed the tweet and disabled tweets a little later for all verified accounts on its platform.

It is unclear whether Twitter has responded to the government so far. However, we will update this article when development occurs.
