OnePlus Buds: Specs and Features
Beginning with the design, the OnePlus Buds sit in a round charging case, which has a matte finish on the exterior. You will find an LED battery indicator on the front and a device switch/pairing button on the rear. Earbuds, on the other hand, have a half-ear design (similar to many other offerings out there). The circular pattern on the earbuds may remind you of previous-gen bullet wireless earphones but the chrome ring at the bottom turns off the AirPods vibes.
The charging case weighs 37 grams while each earbud weighs just 4.7 grams, which is much lighter. We will have to test ergonomics and comfort once we get a review unit in the coming days.
Sound Quality
OnePlus Buds are supported by a 13.4mm dynamic driver with Dolby Atmos, bass boost, and dike audio tune support. It should offer als cleaner vocals, deep bass and rich tones according to OnePlus. You will also get three microphones in each earbud, which will help in canceling environmental noise. This crisp will also be used for voice calls.
OnePlus founder and CEO Peta Lau quoted an official as saying, “Users will enjoy OnePlus Buds’ quality sound, war charge capability, long battery life, and seamless connection to play their phone calls, music and podcasts seamlessly. ” Press release.
Connectivity
OnePlus bands connect to your smartphone over Bluetooth 5.0 and will work quickly and easily to a range of 10 meters. These also support Google’s fast pairing, so you’ll see a pop-up to pair the moment you open the lid. OnePlus phone will also show you a fancy pop-up with earbuds and case battery information.
If your phone does not support fast pairing, you can go to the Bluetooth settings and add OnePlus Buds manually. They also support Fnatic mode, which reduces latency to 103ms to improve real-time audio sync. This is an essential feature for mobile gamers.
Touch Controls
OnePlus Buds come with customizable touch controls (circular part on earbuds) in tow. You can double-tap to play/play music and long press to call on Google Assistant. The company did not go into detail, so we have to test it ourselves and update you on the same.
Battery & Charging
Finally, let’s talk about the battery and charging speed. The charging case has a capacity of 430mAh battery while each earbud has a 35mAh battery. OnePlus claims that you will get 7 hours of continuous playback from earbuds on a single charge. The total battery life is claimed to be up to 30 hours, which suggests that you can charge the earbuds four times using the case.
For charging, OnePlus says that a quick 10-minute charge is enough to give a case of 10 minutes of playback. It takes 0 minutes to 80 minutes to fully juice the charging case.
