The Indian government has launched an app called “Little Guru” to learn Sanskrit. This app, created by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), aims to make Sanskrit easy and entertaining by “gamifying” it. Gamapp SportsWizz of Bengaluru has developed the app. This app is available on Google Play Store.
ICCR DG Dinesh K Patnaik said, “Little Guru is a beautiful symbol of what we have offered to teach people worldwide. This app will help students, teachers, and others learn Sanskrit. Will also be able to learn Sanskrit in time too. “
Patnaik of Dinesh said, “We have decided to use the latest devices such as machine learning, AI, and gaming technologies. Gaming technologies help life to learn language easily.”
ICCR has in the past provided Sanskrit books, material for the promotion of Sanskrit. Under MEA or Ministry of External Affairs, this institute appoints teachers, professors in universities and institutes.
The Indian diaspora members of foreign countries have been seeking help from ICCR to help in learning Sanskrit. Many of the Buddhist, Jain, and other religious texts are in Sanskrit, and in some countries, there is a tremendous demand for assistance in learning the language. Also, many Indian languages such as Bengali, Tamil, Marathi use Sanskrit as the base.
