Poco has no plans to launch Poco F2 Pro in India yet. The company started by targeting the flagship segment but is now focused on the mid-range segment. It has already tasted some success with the Poco X2 and is now expanding the portfolio with another new smartphone range. The first phone to come under the new M-series is the Poco M2 Pro.
Poco M2 Pro made its debut in India today and it is the least interesting phone for me. The Redmi Note 9 Rebranded Pro version, which in India is already available globally with design and charging capabilities.
Poco M2 Pro Specs and Features
Since were released a teaser for Poco m2 Pro, we knew that it Redmi Note 9 Pro (global version) will be rebranded. The build is basically similar to the Indian version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. This is simply that the design has been removed from the global version, as seen below. Back Gorilla Glass protected by 5 and you get a side-mounted fingerprint on board in tow.
Under the hood, Poco m2 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 720 G chipset that provides Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max both power in India. You’ll also get up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, which is expandable up to 512GB via a dedicated microSD card slot onboard. The device runs Android 10 based MIUI 11 with Poco Launcher on top.
Our focus is on the front, it is similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Let’s not doubt anymore, the Poco M2 Pro has a 6.67-inch full-HD + IPS LCD display with a 20: 9 aspect ratio, 2400 x 1080-pixel resolution, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It doesn’t boast a high refresh rate like the Poco X2, which is super disappointing. The punch-hole in the center has a 16MP selfie snapper.
The Poco M2 Pro sports a quad-camera setup inside the square module on the rear. Like the Redmi Note 9 Pro, you get a 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 119-degree FOV, 5MP macro camera, and finally a 2MP depth sensor. The camera features are all very similar.
The company has made minor changes to the battery and charging front. Unlike the 5,020mAh battery in the Redmi Note 9 Pro, you have a 5,000mAh battery pack onboard. The 18W charging support, however, is similar to the 33W Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. This means that you can extract 50% of the battery juice within about 30 minutes.
