Redmi 9: Specs and Features
The smartphone boasts a ‘Edge Aura Edge’ design for a comfortable grip and an attractive new orange color that I love. You will also get a square camera setup and a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the rear and a Waterdrop Notch display on the front.
Redmi 9 has a 6.53-inch HD + IPS LCD panel with 20: 9 aspect ratios and 1600 x 720 resolution. It includes a waterdrop notch, a 5MP selfie camera on top.
For the rear camera system, this is where the Redmi 9 India variant differs from the Redmi 9C. It includes a dual-camera system with a 13MP primary camera and a triple camera system in the Redmi 9C with a 2MP depth sensor. You also get a new camera UI and Pro camera mode under Rs. 10,000 price tag.
Under the hood, the Redmi 9 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset that is also found in Realme’s entry-level C-Series. You will also get 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of built-in storage, which is expandable up to 512GB via microSD slot.
Redmi 9 is Xiaomi’s first phone in India to be launched with the new MIUI 12 skin out-of-the-box. This means that you will get all the new features including new UI, floating windows, privacy upgrade, dark mode 2.0 and more.
The smartphone is equipped with a large 5,000mAh battery with charging support via a 10W (5V / 2A) micro USB port. On the connectivity front you also have 3.5mm audio jack, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi support.
Price and availability
Price of 4GB + 64GB base variant Rs. 8,999 in India while the high-end 4GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs. 9,999. It will compete against Realme C11 and C12 in sub-Rs. 10,000 denominations in India.
The smartphone will be available in three colorways – Sporty Orange, Sky Blue, and Carbon Black. The sale will begin on August 31, exclusively on Mi.com and Amazon India.
