Spotify Now Available on Amazon Echo Alexa Devices in India

Spotify said that this Friday its streaming service is now compatibly available with Amazon Alexa on Echo devices in India. This means that Spotify users present in the country can now stream music and podcasts on Echo smart speakers and displays by selecting the service as their streaming platform of choice. The company said that this feature is available to premium customers as well as free users.

To install Spotify on Amazon Alexa, you need to go to the Alexa app and tap on the ‘menu’ icon on the upper-left corner. From there, go to ‘Settings’. Then scroll down and tap on ‘Music’. Choose the ‘link new service’ option and choose ‘Spotify’ on the next page. Then you need to enter your Spotify username and password to connect your account to Alexa. You can also set Spotify as your default music service if you wish.

Once set up, you can use the Alexa command Spot Alexa, Spotify Connect ‘to sync your Echo device with the music streaming service. Spotify states that users will be able to request music by artist, album, track, and genre. They will also be able to play music tracks from curated and personal playlists as well as podcasts. Alexa Kaushal is able to take requests in English, Hindi, and Hinglish’, the company told.

Examples of Alexa command play Spotify playlists include “Alexa, play my Daily Mix 1 on Spotify” or “Alexa, Bollywood Acoustic on Spotify”.

To play particular songs, users can say “Alexa, dance monkey on Spotify”. You can also use set an alarm with music from Spotify. The company said that Spotify Connect will also be an option for amazon Echo Alexa all users.
