As the race to ban Chinese apps continues in India, the popular mobile battle royal title, PUBG Mobile, recently became one of the casualties. Now, another mobile Battle Royal aims to capture the huge market it has left behind in India by introducing PUBG Mobile as an in-game character to Indian superstar, Hrithik Roshan.
Garena’s Free Fire is a PUBG-like mobile game that leaves players on a map with 49 other players and survives as the last person. However, unlike PUBG Mobile, the game lets players choose from a list of different in-game characters with a variety of “special survival abilities”.
Now, Geraint, who is the publisher of mobile games in Singapore, Free Fire recently announced a partnership with the Krrish-actor to debut a new in-game campaign, “The Hero”. The campaign will enable players to choose Hrithik’s game character, “Jai”, the first Indian playable character of the game.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Free Fire universe and my official avatar, Jai, created by the team, is great. I hope all the players enjoy this unique experience, ”Roshan said in a statement.
Therefore, as PUBG Mobile moved from the Indian market, Garena’s Free Fire aims to capture the Indian gaming community with more India-centric content for the game. However, with the announcement of the new “FOU-G” game, the competition will be tough.
“At Garena, we believe in the power of localization. By offering our gaming community in India a unique opportunity to play as one of India’s most recognizable stars, we are here to reassess our commitment to creating a memorable experience for players,” game creator Harold Teo he said.
