Twitter is now working on a new subscription features on its Twitter platform. This is according to a new job listing, which has revealed some details about the nature of membership. According to the listing, Twitter has named the project “Griffon”.The company is building a subscription service that can be reused by other teams, could be called “first” for it on Twitter.
“Gryphon pays a team of web engineers who work closely with the team and Twitter.com team. We are looking for a full-stack engineer to lead the payment and membership client work, someone who collaborates as much as we do and can act as a bridge to the engineering team, ”the job listing Reads
After this job listing attracted media attention, the company edited the job listing to remove all mentions of its internal team, membership, and Griffon. Changed description read – Twitter is looking for an Android engineer who works with the BV of backend engineering teams to build components that “allow us to experiment to provide the best experience for all users.” ”
However, Twitter eventually restored the details. The updated listing details Griffen and the subscription service, such as how it was initially. It will be interesting to see how Twitter is planned behind the scenes.
It is possible that the company is working to implement this as a way to monetize its userbase for access to premium content. Unfortunately, it is unclear how this will work. Therefore, we will have to wait until Twitter makes its so-called membership platform public.
